the lesser of 2 evils?

Have you ever faced the situation where you are left with 2 rotten options to solving your problems?

Lets take the US presidential elections as an example of how we should choose the less evil between the 2 candidates. Mr. Obama is over hyped and inexperienced, Mr. Mccain is an extension of the Bush administration. If you are the voter, who would you choose?
My vote would go to Obama for the obvious reason that he will bring no political baggage into his administration should he be elected to the office. Mccain on the other hand will only serve to continue Bush's unpopular policies and bring upon more wrath on the USA in a whole.

On the local front, we have a party which had grown fond of fanning racial sentiments among our multiracial community and another with a not so trustable leader at the helm of the party. The recent events had clearly shown that we disapprove the overzealous fanning of racial sentiments. We are willing to take the risk of supporting a not so reputable man which had his fair share of bad doings in the past. A classic example of choosing the lesser of 2 evils I would say.

On a side note, we should only swear our allegiance to the country but not any party. Happy 51st Merdeka!

far away there lies someone to be missed...

Don't ask me who that person is because I ain't got no idea myself either. But at the bottom of my heart lies a person who I believe I will meet one day...be it tomorrow, next week, next month, next year or maybe 10 years later. At this moment I am missing the above mentioned person. Call me an idiot or dreamer, but the quest will be harder if I don"t begin somewhere. So to that girl far away...I miss you...

PS: ain't all this normal at 22?

23rd august...how it unfolded?

I would say just another peaceful day...the only good news to note is that the weather was kind to me that day and it rained. To top it off, the government announced the fuel reduction on that day...haha, such honour...I'm really chuffed! Its refreshing to note that while I might be older but not necessarily wiser because I am still craving for cakes especially those rich in chocolates. Happy birthday to me...it's that time of my life every year isn't it?

PS: thx for all the wishes...it will be hard to squeeze a tear outta me...hehe, an eyemo will do the trick (trying to show that I'm touched)

signing off...

sports and politics

To put it bluntly, sports in malaysia had never escaped from the hands of politicians who used it as a tool for their own benefits. The moment lee chong wei returned home, he was quickly trust into the midst of a tug of war between politicians from both sides. Only those uninterested in politics will not know the motive behind his quick conferment of a datukship. Yes I would say he fully deserve his awards despite putting up a tame fight in the finals but the way things had unfolded after his heroics in beijing had taken away the gloss off his silver medal feat. As a mere commoner, I am of course in no condition to comment about how sports should be run, but 1 thing I'm sure will help is please leave politics out of sports!

Its a long passage...but I wanna share it with my friends

One day, when I was a freshman in high school, I saw a kid from my class was walking home from school. His name was Kyle. It looked like he was carrying all of his books. I thought to myself, 'Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday? He must really be a nerd.' I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friends tomorrow afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on. As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him. They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so he landed in the dirt. His glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet from him. He looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes. My heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him as he crawled around looking for his glasses, and I saw a tear in his eye. As I handed him his glasses, I said, 'Those guys are jerks.' They really should get lives.' He looked at me and said, 'Hey thanks!' There was a big smile on his face. It was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude. I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived. As it turned out, he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never seen him before. He said he had gone to private school before now. I would have never hung out with a private school kid before. We talked all the way home, and I carried some of his books. He turned out to be a pretty cool kid. I asked him if he wanted to play a little football with my friends. He said yes.
We hung out all weekend and the more I got to know Kyle, the more I liked him, and my friends thought the same of him. Monday morning came, and there was Kyle with the huge stack of books again. I stopped him and said, 'Boy, you are gonna really build some serious muscles with this pile of books everyday!' He just laughed and handed me half the books.

Over the next four years, Kyle and I became best friends. When we were seniors we began to think about college. Kyle decided on Georgetown and I was going to Duke. I knew that we would always be friends, that the miles would never be a problem. He was going to be a doctor and I was going for business on a football scholarship. Kyle was valedictorian of our class. I teased him all the time about being a nerd. He had to prepare a speech for graduation. I was so glad it wasn't me having to get up there and speak on Graduation day, I saw Kyle. He looked great. He was one of those guys that really found himself during high school. He filled out and actually looked good in glasses. He had more dates than I had and all the girls loved him. Boy, sometimes I was jealous!

Today was one of those days.I could see that he was nervous about his speech. So, I smacked him on the back and said, 'Hey, big guy, you'll be great!' He looked at me with one of those looks (the really grateful one) and smiled. ' Thanks,' he said.
As he started his speech, he cleared his throat, and began 'Graduation is a time to thank those who helped you make it through those tough years. Your parents, your teachers, your siblings, maybe a coach...but mostly your friends... I am here to tell all of you that being a friend to someone is the best gift you can give them.
I am going to tell you a story.' I just looked at my friend with disbelief as he told the story of the first day we met. He had planned to kill himself over the weekend.
He talked of how he had cleaned out his locker so his Mom wouldn't have to do it later and was carrying his stuff home. He looked hard at me and gave me a little smile. 'Thankfully, I was saved. My friend saved me from doing the unspeakable.'
I heard the gasp go through the crowd as this handsome, popular boy told us all about his weakest moment. I saw his Mom and dad looking at me and smiling that same grateful smile. Not until that moment did I realize it's depth. Never underestimate the power of your actions. With one small gesture you can change a person's life.

For better or for worse.

PS: To Shu Wen, Jon, or Nick, maybe a little check on my room once a while?(small gesture, haha)

the feeling of being missed?

How does it feel to know that someone from another corner of the world is thinking of you and missing you? (applies for casual friends as well) Honestly, your heart feels warm...and to a certain extent touched. So to those who were missing someone be it their parents, special person etc etc...there's a song for you here...I'm yours from jason mraz.

Well open up your mind and see like me
Open up your plans and damn you're free
Look into your heart and you'll find love love love love

Listen to the music of the moment, dance and sing
We're just one big family
And it's our God-forsaken right to be loved loved loved loved loved

smashing song I would say!

Thursday 7 August 2008

We sing, We dance, We steal things...I'm yours

Well you done done me and you bet I felt it
I tried to be chill but you're so hot that I melted
I fell right through the cracks and now I'm trying to get back

Before the cool done run out I'll be giving it my best
And nothing's going to stop me but divine intervention
I reckon it's again my turn to win some or learn some

But I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait, I'm yours

Well open up your mind and see like me
Open up your plans and damn you're free
Look into your heart and you'll find love love love love

Listen to the music of the moment, dance and sing
We're just one big family
And it's our God-forsaken right to be loved loved loved loved loved

So I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait, I'm sure
There's no need to complicate, our time is short
This is our fate, I'm yours

D-d-do do you, do you, d-d-do, do you want to come?
Scooch on over closer dear, I'll whisper in your ear
Oh yes love, love love love love love
Love you love, love you love

I've been spending way too long tricking my tongue in the mirror
And bending over backwards just to try to see it clearer
But my breath fogged up the glass
And so I drew a new face and I laughed

I guess what I be saying is there ain't no better reason
To rid yourself of vanities and just go with the seasons
It's what we aim to do, our name is our virtue

But I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait, I'm yours

Come on and open up your mind and see like me
(I won't hesitate)
Open up your plans and damn you're free
(No more, no more)
Look into your heart and you'll find that the sky is yours
(It cannot wait, I'm sure)

So please don't, there's no need
(There's no need to complicate)
There's no need to complicate
(Our time is short)
'Cause our time is short
(This is our fate)
This is, this is, this is our fate
I'm yours, I'm sayin' I'm yours

pavilion vs gardens

The moment I stepped into gardens in midvalley and pavilion in bintang walk, I was awestruck by the numbers of high end boutiques lining side by side. The star dusted shops can be described in 2 words...class act! The only thing in common is the jaw dropping price tags. I might be able to afford it but what is the point if I'm gonna starve myself afterwards for the whole month. An average T-shirt is at 70 bucks the cheapest. My fellow friends in Germany...please don't convert! Sigh, at least I can still afford to enjoy my meals there. Besides, class cant be bought with money...from a green eyed monster that is me. If I have the $$$, the sentence will be...with money comes class! Wow, the most hypocritical sentence ever...who needs anwar, when you have me! Now this is what I call signing off with a BANG!!!

Olympics...are they ready?

Barely 2 days before the opening ceremony and it seems Beijing is ready and eager to prove the rest of the world wrong by staging the most expensive ever game we've ever seen. Enter the bird nest stadium, a stadium build with grandeur and every touch signifies the essence of chinese culture. My best wishes to our malaysian athletes...a medal of any colour will go a long way in distracting the malaysian public from the ongoing political turbulence. Our best bet? Maybe Lee Chong Wei, but I'm not pinning my hopes on him...he's an ass when under pressure...my bet would be Josiah Ng from cycling. Now how I wish squash is one of the events!

Finally, my deepest condolences to the family members of the 16 fallen police officers in Xinjiang...terrorism should be condemned at all cause! Lets hope for a smashing Olympics...the world needs it.

the body building craze...

It seems that the body building craze has caught up with me...so far I've clocked in 3 solid hours of gym work in the space of 1 week...roughly 30 mins per session(not bad a start for an amateur like me...haha) What drives you on is the sight of other people sweating it out and pushing through their limits. Limits are for those who are afraid to scale new heights...cough...cough...I didn't say that! The effects are already there, a few muscle aches now and then but it feels worthwhile the moment you touched the firmed up muscles...ok ok, no more self appraisal!
